Transplant program- and OPO-specific reports:
The January 2012 OPO-specific and transplant program-specific reports are now publicly available on the SRTR.org website.

2010 OPTN/SRTR Annual Report Published
The 2010 OPTN / SRTR Annual Data Report (ADR) is now available for online viewing. It includes chapters on kidney, pancreas, liver, intestine, heart, and lung transplantation, chapters on deceased donor organ donation and allocation policy, plus an appendix. The organ-specific chapters include sections describing the waiting list, deceased donor organ donation, living donor organ donation, transplant, donor-recipient matching, outcomes, immunosuppression, pediatric transplant, and center characteristics.

This is the first ADR to which the current SRTR contractor has contributed. It features a new design and format, with an emphasis on graphical presentation of the data. More than 400 figures and tables are presented. Viewing options include e-reading (to read the ADR as a book) and printer-friendly PDFs. Like the ADR as a whole and its individual chapters, figures are downloadable (as PowerPoint slides). Also downloadable (as Excel files) are the data from which the figures and tables were generated. Accessible via the above webpage are numerous data tables that are not part of the ADR proper. The SRTR invites user feedback via email to srtr@srtr.org.

This ADR is a publication of the Department of Health and Human Services. It was developed by the OPTN and SRTR contractors of the Health Resources and Services Administration, Healthcare Systems Bureau, Division of Transplantation. The OPTN contract requires production and dissemination of this report; the SRTR contract requires coordination of the descriptive chapters and data-related sections of this report.

Consensus Conference:
The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) and the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) are sponsoring a Consensus Conference on Transplant Program Quality and Surveillance on February 13-15, 2012, in the Washington, DC, area. This conference will be chaired by Bertram Kasiske, MD, of the Chronic Disease Research Group (SRTR contractor) and Maureen McBride, PhD, of the United Network for Organ Sharing (OPTN contractor), and include representation from various stakeholders, including the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) , the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Department of Health and Human Services’ Advisory Committee on Organ Transplantation (ACOT), insurance providers, the American Society of Transplantation (AST), the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS), and patients. To keep discussions productive, space will be limited, and participation will be by invitation only.

This conference will be designed to identify and discuss strengths and weaknesses of the current process for assessing solid organ transplant programs’ performance. Topics may include statistical methods, appropriateness of outcome measures, reliability of data, methods for comparing small and large programs, and the ability to account for differences in the severity of illness in the patient populations served. The goals of the conference are to identify areas of agreement and contention, and make recommendations for improving the transplant program quality and surveillance process.

Transplant program and OPO specific reports:
The transplant program and OPO specific reports released publicly July 12, 2011, are now available.

Dear Transplant Community:
On September 14, 2010, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) contract to the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation (MMRF). The contract is now administered by the Chronic Disease Research Group (CDRG), a division of MMRF. Our team is honored to have been selected to serve the transplant community and will strive to continue the excellent work carried out from October 2000 to December 2010 by the Arbor Research Collaborative for Health. In the fall of 2010, we worked with Arbor Research staff to effect a smooth transition in contractors. Our goal is to provide minimal disruption to all stakeholders in the SRTR operation.  More>>
